Mount Zion became an accredited school through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and just recently renewed accreditation in the fall of 2021. Here is a portion of the letter sent by the Board of Trustees:

December 15, 2021

Ms. Kristen Stuart, Principal
Mr. Tim Shine, Administrator
Mount Zion Christian Schools
132 Titus Avenue
Manchester, NH 03103

Dear Ms. Stuart and Mr. Shine:

At its virtual meeting on November 8-9, 2021, the Commission on Independent Schools was pleased to vote to grant Continued Accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges to Mount Zion Christian Schools. This action was reported to the NEASC Board of Trustees at its meeting on December 1, 2021. In reaching its decision, the Commission reviewed the thoughtful, thorough, and well-prepared Self-Study Report, Visiting Committee Report, and your letter in response. The Commission appreciates your cooperation in providing all the necessary materials to assist in reviewing the schools for Continued Accreditation.

The Visiting Committee Report identified many remarkable areas for commendation. Notable among these was the school community's open, honest, and humble willingness to undertake a fully self-reflective process. The Commission recognized this meant looking courageously at every aspect of the schools, from operations and curriculum to student experience, with eyes wide open for possible improvements. But this, like the ways the school community interacted with the Visiting Committee, was a reflection of the school's mission, values, and the energetic servant attitude which inspires the administration, faculty, staff, and volunteers.

In addition, the Commission commends Mount Zion Christian Schools for the recent smooth transition in leadership and the adoption of a new dual administrative model, implementation of the Teaching for Transformation Christian worldview learning framework, updating the curriculum in the core areas of Math, English Language Arts, and Bible, and looking to develop a program for Guidance at every grade level.

The schools are making great progress. Completing the Self-Study and hosting the Visiting Committee are significant events in a school's life. They are, however, only the first steps in the decennial cycle of school improvement at the heart of NEASC accreditation.

Mount Zion Christian Schools are well-positioned to take full advantage of the improvement process by engaging the entire community in responding to the recommendations.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Ferris
Director for Accreditation
