Students have returned to their classrooms, summer fun has come to a close, and the weather is cooling down. Autumn brings many amazing and beautiful changes to God’s creation around us. As this happens the lives within Mount Zion continue to change and grow as well, in physical stature, spiritual understanding, and wisdom just as our Lord Jesus Christ did according to Luke 2:52 “Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.” Our focus to equip students for God’s unique purpose in their lives continues on as we pray the Lord’s blessing and favor on His work here at Mount Zion.
Last year we were blessed to have been in-person for the majority of the school year. In a season of a global pandemic and students falling behind academically, we at Mount Zion are proud to share, according to our student’s NWEA scores, our students have not been as affected as other students across the nation. For this and many other reasons, we say thank you for your continued support of the work that God is doing in the lives of our students, faculty, and staff.
In 2020/2021 we were able to give COVID scholarships to help our families who had reduced hours or lost jobs due to the pandemic. In addition to this, we were able to award families $172,000 to offset tuition costs. In order to do so, we depleted our rainy day funds. For us to continue to support our families financially, we need your help to replenish these monies through our Annual Fund. We’re looking to raise at least $200,000 to replenish the funds we’ve blessed families of Mount Zion with through the pandemic. Any support you can provide will help us continue to impact the lives of our students, families, and community.
Now, of course with running a school in a historic building there come some unique challenges. We have been able to upkeep our facility for years and continue to look for ways to be good stewards of what the Lord has entrusted to us. Due to our amazing commUNITY support we were able to complete the leaking roof in June, this project was a 14-year endeavor. Like many local businesses, Mount Zion has felt the financial restraints of the global pandemic on our operating budget. Our largest need right now is the replacement of a furnace. The current furnace is 51 years old, and owes us nothing! The regular life of a furnace is 35 years and the Lord has extended this beyond our expectations, to which we are grateful. A furnace replacement will cost a minimum of $75,000.
As you know, there are many needs of which our Annual Fund covers. We encourage you to prayerfully consider supporting Mount Zion.
May the Lord continue to bless you!
Thank you for choosing to support Mount Zion Christian Schools!
