Middle School News – May 2022

News

May has brought all kinds of new learning activities for our middle school students. They got to welcome the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to the field for one of their games, continue to learn about God’s divine design of our world, and dive into learning about the early 1900s.

Meanwhile, our 5th grade has tied their Fisher Cats field trip into their unit on athlete leaders of social change. They got to learn about leaders who paved the way for the sports we know and love today.

In 6th grade, students have been learning about the Great Depression, the role of jazz music in that era, and Pullman porters in humanities. They have been learning how to research these topics and even created some visual presentations to bring it all together.  In science, they have been looking at energy. Students have learned about the nature of energy, and are now finishing the year with a brief unit on ecology.

The 7th and 8th-grade students are learning about Louie Zamperini and his journey as a POW in World War II and his journey to Christ. They took a field trip to the Wright Museum and wrote an essay on the effects of invisibility on Japanese American internees as well as American POWs to bring the unit to a close. In science, they have been learning about genetics and heredity. To finish out the unit, they made a brochure about a genetic disorder they chose to research.

With only a few weeks left in the school year, we are proud of you middle school! Keep up the good work!
